SOFT or RIGID, FREQUENT REPLACEMENT or CONVENTIONAL WEAR?
Virtually all Opticians fit Contact Lenses but,
because their speciality is selling glasses, in
reality they usually only fit a very limited range.
As a result, if your eyes are even slightly complex
you will most likely be sold new glasses or just
possibly be referred to a SPECIALIST practice
such as ours.
We believe our SPECIALIST practice is unique! We don't just fit one or two different types of soft lenses but over 100 soft, flexible and flexible designs made from 30 or more different plastics. All vary radically in physical and chemical properties and mode of use. From daily throw away to monthly sleep-in! Lenses for work, lenses for socialising, lenses to change the eye colour and even, special sophisticated lenses specially designed for sports.
Without this incredible range we simply couldn't offer our pledge to be able to successfully fit virtually anyone, however complex.
Most patients seek our advice as to what type of lenses to have but a few arrive having an idea of what they think is going to be 'the best for them'.
AS THE SPECIALISTS WE WILL ONLY ADVISE WHAT IS CLINICALLY MOST SUITABLE FOR YOUR SPECIFIC NEEDS! EVERY EYE IS DIFFERENT, EVERYONE'S NEEDS VARY - WHAT FOLLOWS IS A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JUST SOME OF THE MAJOR AREAS OF CHOICE AVAILABLE TO US.
SOFT or RIGID?
Although the word 'soft' conjures
images of comfort, today's flexible Oxygen Permeable
lenses can also be just as comfortable as soft,
even though a few days adaptation may be needed.
Sometimes more rigid materials may be best for
technical reasons such as the better vision, the
correction of kerataconus and irregularly shaped
cornea's etc.
Virtually all materials today are permeable to
oxygen which is vital for the health of the eye.
Flexible lenses permeable to oxygen are sometimes
referred to a 'gas permeable' lenses.
Some rigid materials are so thin that they bend
like soft lenses and we even have fit specialist
combination lenses with have a soft edge with
a rigid centre.
NO ONE TYPE IS BEST - THE BEST IS THE ONE THAT WORKS FOR YOU SO DON'T BE PUT OFF IF, IN OUR WISDOM, WE ADVISE A TYPE THAT YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE CONSIDERED.
